Public Procurement (British Goods and Services) Bill

This private members bill (Labour sponsor), proposes amendments to the Procurement Act 2023 and the Social Value Act 2012 to “make provision about public procurement in respect of British goods and services, and for connected purposes”.

The proposed amendments aim to make Contracting Authorities have regard for how British goods and services in public procurement might improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the relevant UK area. The bill also obligates Contracting Authorities to have regard for how they themselves might act to support good employment standards and working practices.
